The idea is to get students thinking about the topic you will present. Keep it simple; you just want to bring up any prior knowledge they have about the topic. Choose one of the following or create your own:

1. •Use a single or multiple compelling visuals that students recognize or that might grab them.
   

2. •Use a compelling headline or topic to grab students’ attention.
   

3. •Ask students questions (Have you ever _______? How many of you are married?)
   

4. •Use concept maps and brainstorming (Consider Think-Pair-Share.)
